I. From Developer to Instructor.

When I was working at FSoft, we often had programs to enrich our skills. You could join to gain new skills or enhance existing ones. For example, moving from Back End to Fullstack, or from Angular to ReactJS.

I received an invitation from the company to become an instructor for a ReactJS class. Of course, I couldn’t say no, since they offered extra pay for each member who joined my class 🤑. However, I only got paid if the member passed the final examination.

I. What I did I do?

I host a class every Saturday morning, and each session lasts 3 hours. The course has around 7–10 members. I also recommend some basic Udemy courses, which they need to study before joining the Saturday class.

🪝 In my class, I mainly focus on explaining code, solving problems, and guiding students on the best ways to learn React. I also share tips for building better React apps, such as organizing the repo structure, writing clean code, and using useCallback and useMemo properly. We don’t focus on basic coding tutorials since they already cover those in the Udemy courses.

At the end of each lesson, I assign homework, which I review in the next session.

I. Final

🧑‍🎓 👩‍🎓 To pass the class, I assign a simple final project. Students use my Figma design as a reference to build a website. Then, I review their repository, provide feedback, and officially mark them as passed.

After this program, not only did my students enhance their skills, but I also gained new ones myself, such as presentation, communication, and evaluation skills. And of course, it also helped me increase my income to feed my cat 🤣.
